Mangaluru, the district head quarters of Dakshina Kannada, is well connected by good road network. NH-66 (previously known as NH-17) passes all along the coast of Dakshina Kannada District(Mangaluru) connecting Goa and Mumbai on one side(north) and Kochin(Kerala) on the other side(south). NH-48 connects Mangaluru to the State capital Bengaluru.
Mangaluru is well connected by Railways. Konkan Railway route passes through the district(Mangaluru) connecting major cities of India. The 2 Major Railway stations are – Mangaluru City Railway Station(Mangaluru Central-in the heart of the city) and Kankanady Railway Station(Mangaluru Junction – 5 Kms away from the heart of the city).
Mangaluru Airport, located at Bajpe, is an international airport and just 18 Kms away from the heart of the city. Several daily flights connect Mangaluru with major cities in India as well as some major cities in the Middle East.
